Cairo
The African Asian Union of Media has honored Shalhoub bin Abdullah Alshalhoub, Director of Public Relations and Media and Acting Director of the International Communication and Media at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), with the Union’s 2026 Humanitarian Media Award during a ceremony held in Cairo.
Receiving the award, Alshalhoub expressed pride in the recognition, describing it as a responsibility before it is an honor and a motivation to continue serving the field of humanitarian media.
He said the award also recognizes the work of the KSrelief, whose support contributed to his receiving the honor. He also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s leading humanitarian role in providing assistance to countries and communities affected by crises and in need across the world.
Alshalhoub said humanitarian media is “not merely about reporting the news, but a noble mission that embodies the values of compassion, upholds human dignity, and offers hope to those exhausted by crises.”
He added that when journalism adheres to professionalism and credibility while placing people at the center of its mission, it becomes a genuine partner in humanitarian action, a bridge for communication, and a platform for promoting the values of compassion, tolerance and peace.
Alshalhoub stressed that the award is not a personal achievement but a tribute to every media professional dedicated to highlighting humanitarian efforts and to everyone who believes that truthful words and images can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
He also praised Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief initiatives implemented through the KSrelief, saying they reflect the Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to giving and serving humanity, while underscoring the media’s pivotal role in showcasing these efforts, raising awareness of their impact, and promoting a culture of solidarity and shared responsibility.
Alshalhoub concluded by thanking the African Asian Union of Media for the recognition and expressed hope that humanitarian media would continue fulfilling its noble mission in serving humanity and promoting the values of goodness and peace.
